Google Drive access

You decide what Omni can open.

Two clear choices, the same idea as your phone asking which photos an app may see. Let Omni read all of your Drive, or pick the exact files it can open. You stay in control of what it sees.

Why it matters

Sharing your files shouldn't be all or nothing.

Omni does its best work when it can read the documents that explain your business. The brand voice you answer in, a returns policy, a supplier list. But your Drive also holds plenty that has nothing to do with the shop.

So we give you the same simple choice your phone gives an app that asks for your photos. Trust Omni with everything, or hand it a short list and nothing else. You set it once, and you can change your mind any time.

How access works

Two clear choices, both honest.

All of Drive

Trust Omni with everything

01

Omni can open any file in your Drive when it needs to, the way a right hand who knows where everything is kept would.

  • Best when you'd rather Omni just find things for you
  • Google asks for broad access to your Drive
  • Switch to a shorter list whenever you like
or

Selected files

Hand Omni a short list

02

Pick the exact files Omni can open through Google's own file picker. It reads those, and nothing else.

  • Google itself keeps the connection to your chosen files
  • Omni can't reach anything you didn't pick
  • Add or remove files any time, in a tap

It's the same idea as your phone offering an app every photo, or only the ones you select. You choose the level of trust, and you can change it whenever.

What you get

Control that's actually in your hands.

01

Google enforces the limit

Choose Selected files and Google itself keeps the connection to just those files. Omni can only open what you picked, not a filter we promise to run.

02

Pick files, not guesswork

Choose exact files through Google's own picker. The brand voice doc, the returns policy, a supplier sheet. Omni reads those when it's helpful.

03

See what it can open

Your settings show the list of files Omni can see, with a clear note when there are none. No mystery about what it's reading.

04

Change your mind any time

Move from all of Drive to a short list, or back, whenever you like. Adding or removing a file takes a tap.

05

Nothing widens on its own

Connecting Google doesn't quietly grow what Omni sees. The access you choose is the access it has, until you change it.

06

Your documents, on tap

Drive holds the things that explain your business. Omni can reference the ones you allow, so its answers sound like you, not a stranger.

An honest detail

Why files, not folders.

The obvious middle option, pick a few folders and let Omni read inside them, sounds tidy. We looked at it closely and chose not to build it, because it can't keep the promise.

01

A folder isn't a real boundary

Google only hands an app the individual files you pick, not everything inside a folder you point at. So picking a folder would quietly need access to your whole Drive to work at all.

02

We won't fake a limit

The only way to read a folder's contents is broad access plus a filter we run ourselves. A limit we enforce isn't a limit Google enforces, and a filter can have a bad day. We'd rather the boundary be real.

03

So the two ends stay clean

All of Drive is openly broad. Selected files is genuinely narrow, kept narrow by Google. Neither one pretends to be something it isn't.

Where this lives

For your eyes, and Omni's only.

Drive access belongs to you and Omni, the side of the product that runs your business. It never touches the chat on your storefront.

01

Never on your shop

The assistant your customers talk to has no path to your Drive. Files you share with Omni stay on the business side, full stop.

02

You're the only one who sets it

How much of your private Drive a business agent may read is a decision only you can make, so it lives in your settings, not in anything Omni can change by itself.

03

Your files stay your files

Removing a file from the list stops Omni opening it. The document in your Drive is untouched. It's only the connection that changes.

Setting it up

Three steps, about a minute.

01

Open Google Drive access

In your settings, find the Google Drive access card. It shows which mode you're on today.

02

Pick your level

Choose All of Drive, or switch to Selected files. Google walks you through approving the narrower level, which removes its broad access.

03

Choose your files

In Selected files, add files through Google's picker. Omni can open those from then on, and you can change the list whenever.

Questions, answered straight

Before you try it.

01

Can Omni see my whole Drive?

Only if you choose All of Drive. Pick Selected files instead and Omni can open just the files you choose, nothing else. Google itself keeps the connection to that list.

02

What happens when I switch to Selected files?

Google asks you to re-approve at the narrower “files you select” level, which removes its broad access. From then on Omni can only open files you add through the picker.

03

Does removing a file delete it?

No. Removing a file from the list just stops Omni opening it. The file stays exactly where it is in your Drive.

04

Can my customers' chat reach my Drive?

No. Drive access is for Omni, the side that runs your business. The assistant on your storefront has no route to it.

05

Why can't I just pick folders?

Because a folder isn't a boundary Google can hold to. Picking a folder would quietly need access to your whole Drive, so we kept the choice to whole-Drive or specific files, where the limit is real.

06

Can I change my mind later?

Any time. Move between All of Drive and Selected files whenever you like, and add or remove files in a tap.
